One of the objectives of Costa DOro S.p.A . is that of being a synonym for elevated attention towards the consumer , and for this reason the agency has made the philosophy of total quality its own, trying to maximise all of the aspects inherent to it.
Quality is not related strictly to the prime material (in this case, to olive oil), but to all of the factors that bring about the realisation of the final product that arrives at the consumer, which has its influence therefore in every aspect of the management of the company , from the productive process to the commercialisation; every internal sector must respect that which is foreseen in our Quality Manual , trying year after year, to raise our own index of quality even more.
The choice of quality is a vocation that, for Costa DOro, is born from diverse needs:
- to guarantee the genuineness and the wholesomeness of the oil that is sold, since we are dealing with an alimentary product;
- to guarantee the satisfaction of our clients and especially of the final consumer in terms of packaging, quality of the product; correctness of the information on the label, respect for hygiene in the processing phase;
- to guarantee a continual improvement of our company in the diverse sectors and internal and external activities in order to obtain greater effectiveness and efficiency as well as reduction of costs, waste and complaints due to quality that is not up to standard;
- to produce a product that is always improving and constant in time;
- to guarantee the respect of the reference values of our business in terms of ethics, morality, transparency, professionalism, to obtain an improvement of the work conditions of the personnel.
Concerning the quality of the alimentary product, there are five points that Costa DOro respects:
- Hygienic-Health Quality
- Nutritional Quality
- Technological Quality
- Organoleptic Quality
- Service Quality
To these, the concept of Genuineness must be added: the normative outline affirms that non-genuine alimentary substances are to be considered as those products that contain substances which are diverse from those that the law dictates for their composition, or that contain them in a minor quantity.
In the case of olive oil, Costa DOro is aligned with what is prescribed by the legal dispositions in rigour (Reg. C.E.E. 2568/9 1 and successive modifications, Reg. C.O.I., H.A.C.C.P.) and according to the most recent acquisitions of research.
What controls are we making?
Beyond the so-called Psycho-Sensorial parameters, resulting from the taste testing of a group of experts (go to "Learn to evaluate oil through tasting" ), , are examined:
- the Chemical-Bromatological parameters , which show the acidity, the oxidation, the composition of the fatty acids and other elements that demonstrate in a predominant capacity the quality and the genuineness of the oil;
- the Bio-Nutritional parameters , which check the relationship between the fatty acids and the anti-oxidant patrimony of the oil, Polyphenol and Tocophenol, which are ever more important in the eyes of medical experts and doctors for their positive action on the health of the human organism (go to "nutritional elements" );
- the Hygienic-Health parameters , in accordance with that established by the H.A.C.C.P. Certification, for the control of the absence of mould, yeast, fungus, solvents, metals and foreign bodies.
